Experience Northern Thai culture - Golden Triangle - Maesai (Border town to Myanmar)

Day 1 White temple -Art and Cultural Park(60 km) (L)
After a short safety briefing and personalized bicycle fitting, we begin our cycling from the hotel through small villages and rice fields and then follow the Lao River downstream. The bicycle ride is pleasant with much greenery due to the proximity of the river. While you are cycling you will discover the real rural Thailand and see the local lifestyle on the outskirts of Chiang Rai. We will cycle past various fruit orchards, rice fields, rubber plantations, and see many teak trees. We will stop and visit the amazing white temple (Wat Rong Khun) and then have lunch in a local restaurant near the temple.
In the afternoon we will visit the Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park*. It is the region's largest center and displays a huge collection of art items of Lanna culture or Tai culture. Then we will continue cycling through the gently rolling hills with scenic views along the Mae Kok River. The overnight stop is at a beautiful guesthouse nestled on the banks of Mae Kok River..

Day 2 Elephant Camp and Hill tribe villages (47 km) (B,L)
After breakfast we cycle upstream past the hot spring and National park office. After the office we start to cycle on a dirt track going over hills for 5 km (Includes some short steep hills) past tribal villages and then cross the hanging bridge to the other side of Mae Kok River. We will stop at the Elephant Camp for one hour elephant ride, look around the Karen Hill Tribe Village and enjoy lunch. Next we will cycle downstream and then take another dirt track going over hills for 6 km (Includes the highest hill of the trip, 700 m. long, 10% up). After that we will stop and visit Huay Mae Sai waterfall, Lahu Hill Tribal Village. After enjoy playing water at the waterfall we will cycle to the hotel at Pong Phra Bat village. The second night is spend at a beautiful resort with a nice swimming pool (Monfahsai resort).
Day 3 Chiang Saen and Golden Triangle(66 km)(B,L)
After breakfast we will start cycling pass Chiang Rai Ratjabhat University and then cycling through many rice fields. The bicycle ride is pleasant with much greenery due to the proximity of Maekok river. While you are cycling through this beautiful countryside you will discover the real rural Thailand and see the local lifestyle on the outskirts of Chiang Rai. Along the way we will visit the Chinese Buddhist Temple, where you can see many young Chinese monks in their unique dress and the largest “Happy Buddha” in Thailand. After visit the temple we will cycle past various fruit orchards, rice fields and rubber plantations. We will have lunch at a local restaurant on the way to Chiang Saen the ancient city. The third night is spend at a resort with a swimming pool that is located inside the ancient city (Chiang Saen Golden Land Resort).
In the afternoon we will go by car to the Golden Triangle area and spend time visiting the many sights. It is the location where the three countries of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar come together along the Mekong River. We will visit House of Opium (Opium museum) and learn about the history of opium trade that led to the area being called the Golden Triangle. We will take speed boat around the Mekong River to see beautiful view around Golden Triangle area. We can stop for dinner on the way back to the hotel.
Day 4 Chiang Saen - Mae Sai (Burmese Border)(43 km) (B,L)
After breakfast we will cycle along Chiang Saen city walls and moat to visit the ruins of Wat Phra That Chedi Lunag. It is one of the most beautifull ruins in this ancient city. After that we will continue cycling through some small gently rolling hills of the countryside and pass many of pineapple plantations. We will stop along the way at a small village where you will be able to see native Lanna Thai weavers applying their craft. We will continue along the scenic river that separates Thailand and Burma up to the town of Mae Sai; the Northern most point in Thailand. We will have a nice lunch in Mae Sai, and spend time looking at all of the goods imported from Burma and China (including jade and other gemstones). Those interested in purchasing goods will enjoy the opportunity to bargain with the local merchants. Anyone interested can cross the border into Burma for a small fee to extend their Thai visa. After spending time in Mae Sai we will drive back to your hotel in Chiang Rai.
